Nisoth is found in Africa, Australia and Tropical Asia and throughout the warmer parts. Within India it is found growing wild nearly throughout the country, ascending up to 900 m, also occasionally grown in gardens. It contains Resinous Glycosides. It contains A and B- Turpethins, Scopoletin, Turpethinic acids A, Turpethin, Scopoletin, coumarin. etc. The Antioxidants present in Nisoth protects the liver against damage caused by free radicals due to its liver-protecting activity.
